Department of Quantity Surveying
The Department of Quantity Surveying is a multi-disciplinary centre for research and teaching in a wide variety of areas that all influence our built environment. We offer programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Department built its reputation through the tremendous impact that its graduates have made in both public and private sectors. In particular, the graduates of the Department have developed exemplary best practices and anchor the development of Quantity Surveying profession in other institutions of higher learning as well as industry practice in Nigeria and abroad.
Our vision is to be among the top ten Quantity Surveying programmes world wide in the next ten years. There is a considerable breadth of research being undertaken in the Department; emphasising the development, improvement and enhancement of knowledge related to Quantity Surveying and Construction. With the new postgraduate programmes, the Department aims to build upon and enhance its existing research strengths and attainments. Importantly, the Department is open to collaborations with other academic and professional institutions and construction/consulting organisations both in Nigeria and abroad. We have an experienced and well regarded body of academic staff that specialise in a variety of areas of research expertise including procurement management, information management, financial management, value management, risk management, cost modelling, sustainable construction, project control and monitoring, gender studies and skills development. The facilities that exist in and around the Department support the learning and teaching and our students and researchers benefit from access to our state of the art computing facilities.
